Sorry, the PS2 is not the same as the computer Sims 2 game hardly at all. And no you cannot have kids. Period.
You asked for details. In PS2, you can't make movies and story albums with your sims. You cannot get custom hair and celebrities. You cannot breed sims using genetics where if an ancestor had red hair, some generation later it might pop up again (that only works with the computer version). You cannot build enormous lots and keep generations of sim families going, with graveyards for the elders who have passed on. You don't get many colors of ghosts depending on what a sim died from. A sim who dies from drowning, electric shock or starvation and many other kinds of deaths, have different colored ghosts.
In PS2, you can't turn your sim into a vampire, nor a zombie, or a werewolf. In PS2 you cannot create your own custom clothes for your sim to wear.
There is a reason why computers are needed to do all those calculations, allowing you to do downloads and all that stuff.
Some people like the PS2 because they like to run their game like a script and follow the clues to solve a puzzle - and they like to feel, when they are done, they are finished with the game.
The computer game is not like that. The computer version is oriented to those whose imaginations have no limits and whose computers are game enough to handle it all. :)
