this is gonna get a little gross but anywho its true..
a while before hybernation, they eat a TON of stuff.. whatever it is that bears eat. their body somehow knows its gonna be in hybernation and the digestive system stops itself right before it would uh.. be in a place to discharge. and it stays like that all winter. so basically, what it is, is that they eat so much that their body majorly constipates them (harmless and painless im sure) to where it'll kinda work as a plug until winters over

RE:
what do bears do when hybernating about urinating, pooping, etc?
do they get up and go outside? Does it just come out in their sleep? They can't really hold it for months, so I'm curious how a bear answers when nature calls.

The bear can go for 100 days without urinating or defecating . Hibernating bears drink no water . Their blood urea levels decline while they sleep.

I'm not totally sure but as far as I know they eat a whole lot of things like hair, moss etc that forms a 'plug' and you get the picture.

When bears hibernate, their systems basically slow to a crawl...also, if they are not eating or drinking anything, then there is nothing to come out. Nothin' in, nothin' out.
