My daughter would get bad diaper rashes and her dr. gave us a prescription of nystatin (sp?). It worked wonders!

3 week old baby, eats every 2 to 3 hours so change her diaper more often. The only thing I have ever used on my kids is A&D ointment. Every time she has a bm try using and antibacterial soap wash her bottom and dry and put on the A&D ointment. Also during the day let her lay in the floor with no diaper. Air it out. You can also try cornstarch. Just sprinkle a little on her bottom.

Most diaper rashes are actually caused by yeast. I would try an antifuntal such as monistat, or even something for athelets foot (cheaper) If it has a red almost burnt look, it's likely yeast. You can get these creams over the counter. Just ask the pharmacist for an antifungal. Hope this helps.
Eeek. Don't use cornstarch as someone else suggested. If it is yeast, the cornstarch will feed it and make it much worse.

First, I recommend that you bring her to a doctor so that the rash can be inspected and ask for proper medication.
Diaper Rashes: very common and usually clear up in 3-4 days with a diaper rash cream. If it is not clearing up or is bright red and surrounded by red dots, your baby may have a yeast infection and will need an antifungal cream to help clear it up. Diaper rashes can be prevented by frequent diaper changes, increasing air exposure by keeping the diaper off as much as possible, and using a mild soap only after bowel movements (rinse with just warm water at other times).
Rashes: very common in newborns and includes neonatal acne, drooling rashes, and flaky skin that will usually clear up on their own without treatment.

For me, the diaper rash cream didn't work either. Put some Vasiline on your daughters bottom first, then put some 100% cornstarch on top of the vasiline. Don't buy the cornstarch that comes in the baby powder bottles, because it has other chemicals in it. Make sure that you are not using Pampers or Luvs diapers and other diapers that have perfumes in them. You should also not use any baby wipes, because it could irritate baby's skin.

3 week old u should be changing at least evey two hours day and night. she shouldnt be sitting in it long. penatin cream is the best!!! its more expensive but so worth it. you might want to change diaper brands too. I find certain ones cause diaper rash while others dont Parents Choice from walmart neither of my kids have ever had diaper rash wearing them. PS diaper rash usually comes from pee not bm.

This is what a doctor told me to do. Wash diapers in hot water then boil them in a big pot and hang them on the line in the sunshine. Now that is for cloth diapers. with the disposable wash her bottom with soap and water dry really well and let her go without a diaper . Let the air get at her bottom. When the baby is in the crib put a pad under her incase she wets. Desitin is good. If the sun comes in on her crib let the sun shine onher bottom. Work with that for a while and see if it works.

Poor little precious!! Try Butt Paste, it's alot thicker than desitin and stays well to protect the bum. OR if you can...try Arbonne Diaper Rash cream. It's a miracle worker...if you know someone who sells it ask them about it or go to www.arbonne.com. Seriously...it's good stuff. GOOD LUCK!! If it doesn't start clearing up soon, I'd go to the dr. They can give you a perscription that will clear it up in a heartbeat!
OH! And maybe while she's sleeping let her little bum get some air. If ever my girls had a rash the dr always suggested we put a waterproof pad under them and just let them be free!!!

An old experiened pediatrician told me (& it worked) to make sure you clean the bottom at each change before putting on diaper rash cream, etc. He said to use an antibacterial soap, such as safeguard or dial. Use a washcloth & clean well, rinse well. And then use desitin (or whatever) with a little Amen's medicated power on top of the desitin. Worked every time.

MONISTAT WORKS!!!!!! within 2 or 3 changes you will see the differance. diaper rash is a yeast infection so don't use corn starch or powders or even the "diaper rash cream" (all that is good for is burns) i am sure you are using baby wipes when changing. my doctor told me to try this and even when it was bad enough to start bleeding i use this and with in 24 hours it was gone!!!!!

You can use zinc ointment. You make take her to the doctor because she could have a yeast infection. When the BM is in her diaper and gets inside her genitals it can give her a yeast infection. My son got a yeast infection from this and I didn't even know boys could a yeast infection. My niece used to get yeast infections a lot. What you are describing sounds a lot like what she used to get.
