I think you mean Sambucus!
This is a type of Elder, can be propagated in the autumn.
Just take some hardwood cuttings around 4 inches in length and stick them in the ground.
Remember to put in more than you require as you probably won't have a 100% take rate.

Do you mean an iris? I think the best way would be division, rather than a cutting. Or by seeds. Techically you could do a cell propagation of it in a petri dish, but I've not seen it done (for any plant, not just iris). Something about a sterile environment, etc.

Well, I've done it with sambuca nigra - it's only elder in one form or another.
