I live in Central Northern AZ with my husband and 2 boys aged 6 & 8.Apart from the Grand Canyon & Sedona, what else is there to do here? We have only been here a few months and don't know what else this state has to offer.

In Phoenix in the downtown area is where all the museums are located!!! In North Phoenix there is the Metro City Mall!! In Tempe off the 10 Freeway @ Baseline is the Arizona Mills Mall and the Fiesta Mall off the Superstition Freeway @ Alma School Road. Also in North Phoenix, is the Phoenix Zoo and the Botanical Gardens!! Also, up in North Phoenix is Camelback Mountain...take the boys for a hike up the mountain and look out on the city and valley below!! You could head up to Apache Junction where there are several lakes, camping and beautiful scenery. You could go to the Colorado River and go camping/fishing right on the water!! There is Lake Havasu where you go rent a houseboat for a couple of days and camp out on the lake!!! Also, at Lake Havasu is where The London Bridge is located and there is a neat little shopping area right next to the Bridge!!! The boys can rent a small boat of some sort and go out on the lake!!! There is so much to do in Arizona!!!

If you belong to AAA go down to your local office and get a tourbook of Arizona and it will tell you what there is to do in your area!!! Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

During Feb and March there is a renaissance festival a short distance from Phoenix. Great fun for the whole family. My son still remembers his first time going to Faire, and that was about 12 years ago!

Just a suggestion, but get a couple of those disposable cameras for the kids to take photos of whatever they want. My son had a blast with it. He got some pretty good photos too. (he was 6 when we went.)

Tombstone is a great place to visit and don't fail to go to the superstition mountains, check with your forest rangers for interesting hikes that can be very easy to very difficult but always beautiful, interesting little towns are everywhere too, black canyon city for one. Just explore the petrified forest, Prescott, or anything else that sparks your interest. And subscribe to Arizona Highways for inspiration on things to do and places to go.

I grew up in Tucson. So most of my experience was much further South but i liked to go to the Petrified Forest and absolutely love Tombstone.

Go to Lake Havasu. It is a big spring break destination, and they have a London Bridge there too. It was dismantled in London, brick by brick, and reassembled in LH.
