What would make sense is setting new standards for the requirements of a President. Like a President must have a certain IQ, and not have interests in things like oil. Maybe some Presidential screening tests that would help the public better gauge a candidate's abilities and knowledge in a variety of areas instead of picking presidents based on public speaking, and acting ability alone!

Mark I want to talk about something hypothetical which is why I asked the question. I'm not passing judgement on what you should and should not want to talk about. All I was saying is you didn't give me a yes or no response to what I was asking.

Hey that all sounds good but it simply is not going to happen.

These elections are about the majority. So the candidates must do something that will reach the majority i.e. tours, debates, and speaches.

Individualized testing and other things not done publicly will come under so much scrutiny that no one will believe it.

Where are you going to "set" these standards? Are you talking about rules? Are you talking about constitutional amendments? Do you want to enact a constitutional amendment which would embody the rules you are talking about? If you don't want a constituitonal amendment, then how do you expect anybody to respect the "standards" or rules you are talking about?

{edit} Some of us want to talk about something that is more than just hypothetical (to us) and we still get treated with little respect. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApjrG1Leq2EDJnA3TjFYCvnsy6IX?qid=20060922074009AAB54Qd
