Alot of people on yahoo answers when asked this question regarding the 3_D say "of course it is safe, they wouldn't do it if it wasn't" How naive!!!!! The reason the motive behind this great technology is MONEY!! people that run these spas or photo shops are in it for the business to make money.

It's safe. I paid $100 to have it done. I got to take a cd with pictures and videos of the baby yawning and stuff. It was wonderful. You should do it. He's three months old now and some of the faces look just like the ultrasound videos. :)

It is perfectly safe. Otherwise, why would they offer it??? I was a high risk pregnancy so I had an ultrasound done every month (sometimes twice a month) and just for fun, the techs would bring out the 3D monitor and would take pictures. I had 3D ultrasounds a total of 4 times during my pregnancy and my son turned out perfectly fine. As far as price and where to go - check with your insurance first (if you have insurance). Ask your OB/GYN. He/she should be able to tell you where to get it done or if they have one. Not sure of the price because my insurance company covered it. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting them done - it is awesome!!

The only concern with 3D sonograms is that the it may be linked to hearing loss in children, something to do with the sound waves. There is no real research to suggest this as of yet.

The ONLY reason to have an ultrasound is if it is medically justifiable. In other words, is there a medical reason to have it done? If it's just for fun, just for you to look at your baby, I would urge you to not have it done because it may damage your child. If it is done for a medical reason, it should be covered under your insurance.

They are completely safe. And the pictures are awesome, though I'd wait until you're about 28 weeks before getting it done, to ensure good pictures. I won't get it done past 32 weeks because the baby will be too big to get any good pictures.

I haven't heard of any dangers in having a 3D ultrasound. A few of my friends have had them. Now, their kids are hyper so that may be a side effect. Just kidding... they're just being kids.

Perfectly safe. I'm sure you can do a search for 3D ultrasounds in your area...or ask your dr. I'm not sure how much they cost, but I certainly think they're worth it!!
