if you want to be a plastic surgeon for the money, you're going into it for definetely the wrong reasons, years and years of school for something that you don't absolutely love is a bad decision, you have to make a lot of sacrifices to take such a position as a surgeon.

There is quite a bit of difference between the two. To be a plastic surgeon, you willneed to go to 4 years of college with close to a 4.0 average in science and math requirement and a major of a chosing. You will need to take a MCAT and score in the upper percentile, and then write a good essay and interview well enough to be accepted to medical school. Then you have 4 years of medical school, and then must compete for one of the competitive plastic surgery residiencies which would take another 3 or 4 years. Most likely you will graduate more than $250k in debt, and then you can begin to earn a lot of money...like $1m per year if you are good.
To be a social studies teacher, you have to finish four years of college with a passing grade, and get a teaching certificate. You must interview and be hired, and begin to teach. You will make $25k to $40k. You might have to join a union.
There is more to all of this...but you have time to decide.

You need to weight your abilities as well as what you are interested in. If your motive of being a plastic surgeon is money only, chances are you will not even make it to medical school.
There is no money in being a social studies teacher, but if you love the subjects, chances are you will find it very rewarding despite the poor compensation.

If you love history and the world, why not take it a step further and tell them you would like to be a history professor at the University level?

Plastic Surgeon.
Later on if you decide to change to become a social studies teacher, you can do that, but not vice versa.

You don't have to choose one right now and stick to it, no matter what. In college, you can take both history and medical classes and see which one you like better.
