According to studies, using a condom each time you have sex reduces the risk of getting herpes by approximately 50%.
However like every one else said, a condom is not a 100% protection.
I also believe that using a water based lubricant might be helpful as friction may cause minor sores and increase the risk of transmission.
Nonoxyl 9 gels however tend to irritate the skin and increase the risk of transmission.
Cheers,

You can still catch herpes because your condom won't protect the entire area that could be in contact with your partner's infected skin. Be very careful about this.

Your chances are lower deffinatly with a condom on but its not gauranteed that you won't catch one. It's going to be hard. But just keep in mind, you are making a sacrifice, if you really love the person then go for it. Much luck to you.

You still have a chance to catch herpes. Especially if your partner has blisters showing. Everything you have are not cover up (testicles). You may need to see your doctor. Remember you can still catch it even when your partner isn't broken out. Be safe!

Less than without one.Even with a full body condom there is still a chance.
That's why they call it safer sex, not absolutely guaranteed safe sex.
