Is it the journalist? The owner of the newspaper? The government? There seems to be a lot more fluff and less world news in the US as compared to the rest of the world and I'm curious why that is.

Our news is not judged by our government like other countries, however it is monitored with the military for the war shots. For example the reporters go where the military goes. If the military doesnt want the reporter to see something they dont take the reporter there. But for the most part the news is a business the stations reports what will sell. You also have to remember that a news program is only 22 minutes long. There is way more news in the world than can be reported in 22 minutes.

To answer the question i would have to say the owner of the paper or the newstation. If you want new you should just look online. The internet has less propaganda to promote and is also less of a business

News is determined by anyone. The journalist who writes about it considers it news... unless they are writing feature and entertainment articles.

You have to sort through tons of crap today to get to the actual news in the media. They obviously have trouble sorting it out before they inundate us with it.
