No, I can't smile on demand, and having been a professional photographer, I can tell you that fake smiles, ALWAYS show, even when you don't know the person. Lighthearted banter works every time though.

I hate when they say smile. I never feel like it and feel bad for fakeing one. I like candid pics better than being told to pose for a pic candid ones show how i really feel at the time and i can just by myself without having to do what they say (look this way, smile ,tilt your head ect)

I smile all the time, but it does seem harder when it comes to a camera being on me, but if they catch me i am usually all smiles

Our guard (at work) is always telling me to smile and I usually flip him off or snarl at him when he does it. I love to laugh and smile too, but like you said it's different when it isn't spontaneous.
(I am getting better toward the guard tho, it's actually starting to get funny.)
