depends on whether the burner is turned on or not. If on high and nothing is on top of the burner then it averages 500 degrees.

Depending on which part of the flame you mean, propane burns between 2800 and 3400 degrees Fahrenheit. A red hot stove element (on "high") has a temperature of about 2000 to 2100 degrees Fahrenheit.
