Some models in certain years were poorly built with inferior materials.
They were very inexpensive for a reason.
I think they are getting better now-but I don't know how much better.
Their trophy line of boats seemed OK.

Bayliners are sort of junky boats. You'd be better off holding off for a better investment. They don't typically have good resale value. As for the person espousing the values of Boston Whalers, he's right, they're great boats. If you're a first time boat owner or if you have a family with small children, just be careful. The gunwhales on Whalers are often very low, making it a bit of a rough ride if you're in choppy waters. Lunds, Tritons, Larsons, all good boats for first time boat owners, as they're relatively low maintenance, have smooth ride, and have higher sides (typically) for a more secure ride.

I may get one. I had an expensive boat. When I sold it 5 years later it was like new. Never had time. Depends on how much you will use it. I know i will only get out once or twice a month. Don't need the best as long as it's safe.

they work but, are not known as a high quality boat, more like the "PINTO" of the Bay, I prefer "Boston Whaler" a tad pricey at first but, it's a high quality (Double hulled w/ foam floatation) boat. Don't take chances, you're in an environment that you don't normally belong in. When you go to sell your "USED" Boston Whaler, you get your investment back, something that can't be said about "Bayliner's". With a "Boston Whaler", the boat will sell itself, you won't have to say a word, People want this boat (ask other knowledgeable boaters about it's reputation), I get "Notes, messages, even the cops in the driveway, one time looking at it, asking if it's for sale. She has also been "Baptized by Fire" when she was called to duty to assist the USCG in a rescue, she showed her true colors, be safe, choose the right thing for your friends and family, always wear your "PFD" drowning is never cool ! Good luck !

Depending upon the year it was built it may or may not be a good buy. Bayliner had a streak of absolutely junky boats. Build with chopper guns. They were heavy and brittle and the workmanship was downright nasty. They were pretty on the showroom floor and that was about it. They have since become a well built boat although not exceptional.

It's plastic and it floats, that all I have to say good about any bayliner boat. They are one of the cheapest made boats in the world.

I don't know what all these people's problems are, but mine has been the most faithful little boat I've ever owned.

However, it is heavily modified, and lives inside during the winter.

It all depends on what condition its in.
