silent hill- can anyone explain the ending of the movie silent hill to me?

i just watched the movie and i understand everything except the ending of the movie. . . what did i miss and can some one explain it?

Sharon was actually the good side of Alessa. The bad Alessa split her from the real and badly burned Alessa in order to preserve the good in her. While all hell breaks loose in the church, the bad Alessa merges with the good Alessa. As a result, Rose and Sharon/Alessa are in a dimension created by Alessa because she finally has the mother she wanted and doesn't want to share her.
Contrary to popular belief, they are not dead nor was the janitor Sharon's father.

thats y when they go home its still foggy around the house

and dad is home but u see theyre in 2 different worlds

b/c silent hill is a limbo so u must die to get there and u have to b connected to get into it but once ur there ur stuck unless u die then u go onto heaven or hell or w/e's next

I got the impression that before the mom and little girl got trapped in that town they were actually already dead (car wreck?) Remember when the dad and cop were in the school and the dad thought he sensed/smelled her?
Then, same thing when they went to the house, like ghosts taking care of unfinished business before they crossed to the other side.

the weird adopted daughter trapped herself and her mom in a parallel universe and they'll never get out b/c the daughter is inherently evil. That movie was really wack.

i know what u mean, the ending sucked. did they stay in silent hill? thats what someone told me, i watched it but it didnt register in my head what happened.

The girl and her mom are dead, and because of that they are trapped in a parellel world from the dad.
