First let me suggest we look to who decides what abled body means, I am a true believer that human nature is to embrace progress, thus in stating this fact, it is human nature to want to work. Competition renders many outcasts in its want to have it all. Quality of life is often reduced by those who take more than their share. It is not a new concept that the world is suffering from a strategic imbalance. So I would want to question first, who defines the notion of disability, and what is an abled body. When one considers social freedom I sincerely believe that as it is imbalanced human nature does what it can with what it has to work with and those who have it all will suggest that those who have little have earned nothing.
In the end it all comes down to space and continuity of the overall community. If you don't want to share, then your going to always have a percentage who show you don't want to share, and anyone who wishes to cover up that point does very well by stating these people who do not have jobs deserve little to no food at all...
In the end I have not met one person who doesn't have a story to tell in their galant effort to earn their way through life, for some without little to any pay at all, rarely have I met someone who has not contributed to society in some significant way.
To date the one thing that stands out in my mind is who consumes less, not who consumes more. It would be the one who consumes more that causes unemployment and reciprocity to suffer.
Take for an example a father who has more than one wife, and many children he cannot afford to support, is it the wife and child's fault or the husband who promised to love and hold until death do us part ? Or is it the governments job to pick up the father's wife when he moves onto the next wife, the neglected wife now at the local welfare office because the said father pays his taxes ?
We do not live in a world that is simple and nothing is ever what it seems, but certainly there is plenty of opportunity for ammendment and change !

I think you need to look at the root of the problem to the question your asking before passing judgement on its results. Our gov'ts inaction towards creating policies that enable the poor to become middle class (massive increase in poor under bush/rep) such as out-sourcing jobs abroad, no immig policy, no tariffs on foreign goods (cheaply made, labor law violating), no equitable trade policy, the constant assault on unionized worker, the wal-martization of communities, no education values, etc etc... have broken us down into hard working---under paid, unable to afford anything, individuals who are one paycheck away from going into bankruptcy which we can't even get relief from anyway. Looking up at our country from a poor persons perspective could break a person down to the point where there doing what your saying. Wouln't you wanna stick with what gets you by? Getting something from this gov't to for your tax dollars other than a war and mountainous debt that your great great grandchildren will be paying is a pretty reasonable expectation if you ask me.

Most of these people recieve things from the Government because at one time and point, they did work. If you got 5 bucks an hour for doing nothing but sitting around and doing what you like to do instead of 5 bucks an hour working out in the heat at a crummy job, what would you pick?

It will end when the system collapses under their weight.
Unfortunately, there are still way too many people who actually play by the rules, go to work, pay their taxes, and don't have the time to protest how they're being used by the lowlife class. If they did protest, they would be told by the welfare mongers in this society that they are just being selfish, and probably racist, and unwilling to help the "less fortunate" in our country.

I agree 499% and it's completely outrageous that they get away with crap like that. Let's face it, politicians don't really have any Gonads, they are just in it for the money. Hey! Life doesn't get any better than to serve political office and then get "Full Pay" Retirement Benefits for LIFE!!! What a setup!
It's just ludicrous! It's time to yell and scream!

first off the ones who are able bodied should be working, nothing in the law books that orders one to work, but there a law's and legislation that require the tax payers to provide for them.
The bums on the street may have suffered some sort of trauma, disease(drug addict) what ever but the most of them have a bad mental disability and have lost their spirit.
They do not deserve the beatings like in Florida. do not judge a man until you have walked a mile in their shoe's, next time you see one sit next to him/her, offer a sandwich and find out about his life. he will like your company and tell all. This will change your life and be thankful you have it better. Be Kind please.

Write your legislature stating your concern that it's too easy for people to 'ride the gravy train' and catch a free ride for life, then.
Welfare gets abused, so more of it needs to be looked at to see if it can be done away with. Don't throw your 78-year-old granny out in the street, but Larry can go ahead and sober up and get a job mowing lawns etc...

Unfortunately, through my job I have a lot of contact with people like that, too. Whenever there is a support system, there are always parasites trying to take advantage of it. Look at how much money was stolen from the Katrina funds.

That's sad. It sounds like the Labor Dept. should have social councellors there help guide these 'mentionables' back into the work force.

Let the ones that refuse to work, to not work. Its their choice. And if they ask for money, don't even give it to them.
They have to understand that you have to work to survive.
