How do the adhesive shock sensors labels at www.shockwatch.com work? They say something about a red dye, surface tension, g force ,blah blah blah. What does it mean in layman's terms?

Hi. I think they work by having a drop of dye held in place on its own, like a drop of water on oil or oil on water. Too much of an impact will dislodge the drop and stain the surrounding material red.
