I just got back from a week at All Star Movies. It was ok, but like someone else mentioned it shares the bus with the other 2 All Star Resorts. (and unfortunately Movies is at the end of the line!! so the bus was full often. )
As for the dining plan....I love it. We usually just buy a small breakfast. (ex. 2 of us split a french toast & sausage breakfast at the food court) then we could use the counter service meals for lunch and made reservations at some of the nicer places for dinner. We eat at restaurants that we normally wouldn't spend so much money on. It is a great way to experience the nicer places for a reasonable cost. ( for example 2 of us ate at Le Cellier in the Canada Pavillion at Epcot and it came to over $100.00. I would never spend that kind of money on a single meal for 2 people!!)
Also, we take in one or two character meals- they usually cost about $27.00 so they are a good value also.
Here is another hint. At the resort, you can use a snack option from the dining plan to purchase a fruit bowl. (at the cost of $3.99 it is a better value than using the snacks to purchase water at $2.50) If you look around you can find some great values. Another thing we used the snack portion for was for frozen lemonades that would have cost $3.59 each.
I would recommend ANY of the character meals. This year we did dinner at the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. This is with Pooh & friends. The food was fantastic. We also ate at Hollywood & Vine in MGM. This was a buffet, and again the food was great.
I would recommend that you go to a local bookstore and purchase a Walt Disney guidebook, such as PassPorter's. This can tell you a lot of information, such as typical meal costs as well as a description of the restaurants. We had a lot of fun last year at 50's Prime Time Cafe in MGM.
If you want to see a dinner show, such as Hoop-Dee-Do Revue or Spirit of Aloha, you will use 2 of your table service meals for each person. We did this last year, and I wouldn't do it again. I really wanted to go to the Aloha Luau, and I really enjoyed it, but I don't think it was worth the cost of 2 sit down dinners. (just my opinion) I would definitely go again, but not on the dining plan. I would spend the money for that.
Remember, enjoy yourself while you are there. Nothing bothers me more than people that are being cross with each other in Disney World. (Parent's arguing, kids crying because they don't want to go on a particular ride, etc.) Relax and experience the beauty of Disney World. If you are not enjoying something, but someone else with you is, then sit back and let that person enjoy where they are. There so much there that I find it hard to understand someone not liking it.
Have a great time!!

Yes, I stayed there in March and I would not reccomend it.
It was the worst Disney Resort I've stayed at in a long time.
Okay, all of the All-Star resorts are in a line, like they are all on the same street. All-Star Movies is the last resort on the street. And they all share the same buses to the parks so we were like always standing on the buses.
The food-court area was sad too. In the ketchup dispensers there wasn't even any ketchup.
I stayed in the Fantasia building which was right by the pool and I could not go to sleep. The pool was so noisy.
The rooms walls are paper thin so you can hear like every flush of a toilet and every noise made.
If you must stay at a Disney value resort, I reccomend Pop Century.
If you can upgrade to a moderate resort, I would choose Disney's Caribbean Beach! It was awesome when I stayed there! Beautiful!
Anyways...have a magical trip!

We stayed at the Pop Centry for a night. It was small, but cool because of the theme. I chose that one because it is the only cheap hotel with its own busline. The bus for the All Stars resorts will stop at all the All Star resorts in order, so the busses might be full all the time. We got the meal plan, but found ourselfs still buying a lot of food, like breakfast, snacks, and drinks. Some venders in the parks do not offer the snack options on stuff, so you need to pay. I might do it again, but it was so inflexable. There is a great review of it on www.allearsnet.com, read that, she does a great job of explaining the pros and cons. Have fun, we are already planning our next trip! Oh, I forgot to mention, we ended up at the Contemperary resort because the rooms are bigger, and it is on the monarail system.

AAAAHHHH!! Run far away from the All Star resorts, all of them! They are the loudest, messiest resorts on the entire property and housekeeping never seems to answer. Go for a Moderate instead. I recommend Port Orleans or Caribbean Beach.

Yes we have stayed there, the best thing about it was it was cheap and had handy big mugs of good coffee you could refill for free. We could have done without the large groups of teens running around with no adults from Brazil, I guess that is where their youth tour groups stay.
I don't reccomend the meal plan unless you are a very organised person and are not traveling with little kids or someone with low blood sugar.
