I know this said just for girls, but I have to throw my two cents in. I have got to tell you that I am a recent college graduate and all the girls I went to school with were always talking about how hot guys in suits were.
It may not be required but a tie is not going to be frowned upon wither. I say go for the ultimate in fine suits short of a Tuxedo. Wear your pinstirpes with a nice white or blue shirt and a bold but still stylish tie. You really want to make an impression go for a shirt with french cuffs and splurge on a set of cuff links that show a little of your personality.

Guy type here. Hey, my friend, if it's a company party where jacket and dress pants are recommended, give yourself a career boost by wearing a white shirt (tucked in) and a tie that complements the suit. You won't look any older with shirt tucked and tie, trust me.
Plus, all the women will be all over you. You'll have to sort out the married ones yourself. Good Luck

solid pair of pants black or kahki. If u wear black pants u should wear pinstripe shirt long sleeve and since u are not wearing a tie u should but a black tee shirt under so u can have the first two or three button open. Also black belt and shoes and yes tuck in the shirt if u do not wear a jacket. Now lighter color pants u should wear a dark shirt brown or black belt with black shoes....GOOD LUCK.......

If the party is formal, I would suggest a tie. But even so, a pale colored shirt or an eggshell would look really sharp, tucked of course.
