I have a DVD set of Marx interviews and rare clips. One is a short audio interview of Harpo. After thirty years watching the silent Harpo I was amazed that he sounded like a Brooklyn mobster.
I guess his innocent pixie character gave the impression of a different type of voice.
Has any one else heard this interview? What was your reaction?

I love the Marx Brothers. It's so much fun to watch their films. I only heard Harpo speak recently in a very short video on YouTube and it was odd to hear him talk.

The only comedians who make me laugh out loud anymore are the Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin.
Absolutely nobody today comes close to being funny like those guys.

Never heard that interview, but I can't believe how funny that must have sounded to hear Harpo talk like a goombah. My brother and I grew up watching the Marx brothers when we were kids, even though it was in the 80's. One of our favorites was when Harpo pissed off a big guy and the big guy makes a fist and bends his arm at the elbow. Big guy is then distracted and Harpo hooks his leg over the guys ****** arm. Big guy gets pissed and pushes the leg down, and it starts all over again and again and again. I want to say it was in Duck Soup, but God that still makes me smile.

Thanks for bringing up the Marx brothers tonight and making me smile. Sorry I couldn't contribute to your question.

A favorite movie of theirs is tough. As for which brother is a favorite, that's easy Harpo. Now for the fun part, did you know there were 5 Marx Brothers? Groucho, Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo Gotta love Minnie's Boys!
