Despite what some answers said, most escort services are fully aware that their girls provide sex-for-pay, but they deny it, and the girl is said to be on her own so as to avoid legal trouble.
The way it works is: If you call an escort service and want to hire a girl to come to your place and have sex, after describing the type of girl you want, you make sure to ask: "How much for the girl's time?" They will know what you mean by this, and they will quote you a rate, which of course will be higher than the rate for merely having here accompnay you to a party to make you ex-wife jealous.
If you do not up front ask about a price for the girl's time, when calling, and then arrives and you go to the party and decide you want to screw her, most likely she will decline because she is on company time. This of course depends on the Service. Some are higher class than others.

A company advertising as an escort agency, does not usually offer sexual services. Hookers that THINK they are high class call themselves escorts.
However real escort agencies provide an attractive intelligent date for a social event or set of social events. A professional escort would be indistinguishable from a real date.
