kidnaps Huck, holds him hostage in a cabin, disappears (Huck presumes going to town to get supplies and get drunk), falls in the Mississippi (presumably drunk) and drowns, Huck finds out (after fleeing down the river) that Jim had seen him in the river and knew that he had drowned but never told Huck.
