My girlfriend just had a baby shower. We got oodles of soap and baby wipes and pretty clothes. You need to turn up an hour early so your family/close friends can have your undivided attention while they give you something especially good before the rest of the masses arrive.

I work in retail and i tend to notice that when people go to buy things off a registry then tend to make a few mistakes. The first mistake is that they will print the list from home, and not get an updated version when they get to the store. The second is when they get to the store, no matter how many times they have been in the store, they will not ask for assistance because they think they know everything. I work for toys r us. I see people all the time come in for registry's. Anther mistake they make is at toys r us every item has an skn number. U wouldn't be able to tell what that number was unless u asked for assistance or took it and checked under the price checker. Sometimes the labels say one thing, and they will assume that it is not the right item. Yes that can be trickey, but if they asked for assistance they would be able to find out if they changed the box or if they worded the box differently from the item on the registry. The last mistake i see people make is regardless of what someone has registered for, if they don't like it they will not buy it. I doubt they are not able to find anything on the registry. Either they don't like what u chose or they don't want to spend too much or too little.

You need to arrive an hour early to get settled in, and so that family can give you the bigger presents, like strollers, cribs, etc. Some people find it uncomfortable to show up with a $20 gift, and others to give gifts that are $500. You will receive a variety of differnt baby things, like wipes, clothes, blankets, etc. If your family has been invited, you may also receive cribs, strollers, carseats, etc. As far as your registery is concerned, if people couldnt find anything on there, they should've asked for help from a store associate. This is what I do when my friends and family have children. Since people couldnt find the stuff that you registered for, they will get you more basic things like clothes and blankets. You may also receive diapers and baby wipes to try and help with the cost of a newborn. This is especially true from people that have had children before. Have a wonderful time at your baby shower! Good Luck!!

I find baby showers and wedding showers so--- rude. The fact that you actually tell people what you want and from what stores they're supposed to buy you things is so materialistic!
Just get together with friends and family and enjoy their company before you're too tired with the new baby to even take a daily shower.
Don't expect gifts-- of course people will bring stuff, but be happy with whatever you get. Gifts are given out of love and kindness, and being obligated to give something makes the whole event so trashy.

You need to make sure all the preparations are check, which they wont be. Some people may come early and u have to be there smiling to see them. you'll get everything, depending on the number of guest. a crib, a bottle, clothes, rockers, everything. including those little booties that everyone loves. oh, and the amount of cards you'll have to read out loud to everyone, you will lose your breath when you get home! But its realy fun, and a tip for any other babies- dont buy anything until after the shower... u might just get everything from the shower!

Congats! and as far as the shower goes I don't know why you wouldn't want to be there early so you can get settled in and enjoy what others are doing for you. As far as gifts if you didn't register somewhere like babys r us . You will probably get a lot of baby stuff. Hope you have a good time and remember to thank everyone for coming.

You needto arrive early so you can personally thank everyone for comming as they arrive & there will be some that get there 20 min early. Plus take a few extra moments to primp, you will be the center of attention. As for gifts the last few showers I have attended the moms to be have recived mostly money & gift cards.

I'm not sure why you have to arrive an hour before the shower starts. Maybe whoever is hosting it, just wants your input on the decorations and things. You will probably get a little bit of everything. Diapers, wipes, clothes, shoes, socks, bath supplies, everything. I love going to baby showers, and I love to host them. They're so fun and cute.

You arrive early to get situated and and comfortable the gifts will depend on if you registered anywhere and whether or not people actually paid attention to it and used it. Most common gifts are baby bags, cute outfits, and banks with bottles and stuff like that!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

you have to arrive early because you are the center of attention..... they shouldnt make you help set up, they are throwing it for you!! You will recieve baby stuff... jumpers, clothes, bibs, diapers, diaper bags, bottles, baby seat, baby chair... it all depends on what you need and what your guests are willing to spend... and maybe you are on a register so you wont get the same thing twice... however you can never have too many jumpers!! ~Cheers!!~
