Well you can do a couple of things, it depends on your laptop.

The best way:

1. Check your laptop.
Depending on how old your laptop is maybe the wireless internet is already built-in (known as WI-FI, 802.11 b or g) If that is the case then all you need is to get a wireless router. I would recommend checking the laptop's box or manual for the wi-fi info.

2. Get a router.
You need a "station" that will transmit the wireless signal inside your house. That is called the router. The router will "broadcast" your internet in the air directly from your cable or DSL modem. They are not really expensive, if you search eBay you can find one for less than $30. Remember, if your laptop has already wi-fi built inside, then this is all you need to buy. Here I found one for you:

3. Buy a Wireless Card Adaptor.

You need something that will capture the signal so here is your first choice. It is always better if they match your router's brand, but here is one for you to look at:

Make sure that your laptop has a "place" for this card (also known as a PCMCIA slot)

4. If no PCMCIA slot, then buy a USB Wireless Internet Adaptor (second choice)
These are simple to install. All it is is a stick that will capture the wireless internet signal and plugs into a USB port in your laptop.

I hope this helps! If not, let me know and I'll try to help you more. :)

Well...
Most new laptops come with built-in wireless modems (look for WiFi, or 802.11g). Then, you need to connect to something.
If you already have an Ethernet connection (through a DSL or cable modem, for example) then all you need is a wireless router that connects to the Ethernet and creates a wireless access point. (Many/most hotels, coffee shops, airports have wireless access points which allow you to connect - some free, some for a fee.)
As far as the printer goes, you need a thing called a wireless printserver. Several wireless routes have these built-in, or you can buy them as stand-alone products.
Good luck. It's not hard, but you may need to do some research to figure exactly what it is that you need/want.

You need to ensure that your laptop has wi-fi capability built-in, or you can purchase a wi-fi card (most of these go in a PCMCIA slot) or a USB wi-fi transceiver. The wi-fi capability will allow your laptop to connect to a wi-fi network. But if you want to make a wi-fi network at home (as opposed to using a publicly available wi-fi network) then you will want to get a wireless router. This will allow you to connect your laptop to a wireless network at home, for using the internet and for sharing network resources such as a printer.
