Well, if you're being demoted, then yes, I assume you would get a demoted pay, too.

If the company has written pay scales for position, then yes, no problem. I recently stepped down from a truck driving position due to my health and took up another opening with the company in the warehouse. My pay took a significant downward turn, but I'm near the top of that positions pay rate due to my years of service with the company.

If there are terms that say that at each level there is a maximum pay for the position.

Basically, maybe part-time can only get up to $10.50/hr

Full-time $15/hr

Supervisor $20/hr

etc...

Technically I think you can. A lot of times though, companies won't unless they want the employees to leave.
