Don't get me wrong, I'm not FOR the big invasion of privacy that Bush and his cronies has been trying to push, but I'm not quite sure why people would be so up in arms. Don't you think that terrorist or criminal plots could actually be foiled in this way? Wouldn't the benefits outweigh the cons? And are the people who are angered by this those people with something to hide - like all those rich and powerful people in Congress who voted against it ?

No it is not worth it. Without personal freedom there is no America.

[Benjamin Franklin (on the title page of An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pennsylvania - 1759)]

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Besides, the existing laws were sufficient - and it does not help:

“But virtually all of [the tips], current and former officials say, led to dead ends or innocent Americans,” the Times reported. “FBI officials repeatedly complained to the spy agency that the unfiltered information was swamping investigators. … Some FBI officials and prosecutors also thought the checks, which sometimes involved interviews by agents, were pointless intrusions on Americans’ privacy.”

Actually, the wire tapping probably had nothing to do with catching the latest terrorists since they were outside the area of search.

This item is another page out of the KGB procedures and operations manual that is being slapped on the public without their knowledge so that the Oligarchy can step up it's grasp on power without people knowing until a true puppet king can be placed in control. The present system isn't stable enough anymore.

Because other more controversial bills don't get the massive press coverage when something is passed that the Democrats can use to stand on a soap box and point fingers at the evil Republicans. Maybe some of THEM are afraid of wire tapping, but it was a huge factor in catching this latest batch of terrorists who wanted to blow up planes over the ocean, and therefore effective.

Oh i think of ninety% of the loose international would desire to do the Reeve's "whoa". i think of human beings look at movies and notice the place they spend 7 greenbacks to be certain a movie. Then they compair that to the entire that it would take to bypass to a ball activity. I additionally think of that as quickly as human beings look at A-Rod's salary they compair that to the Marlins group salary. there is not any way of compairing salaries like that for the time of Hollywood. and that i don't think of human beings might care in the event that they found out that Reeve's made extra for between the Matrix action pictures then the full funds for Napolen Dynomite. or possibly human beings comprehend that movies are fiction and therefor positioned no genuine concept into the money paid the actors the place activities are genuine and what each and every physique makes is splattered everywhere.

Because it's against the law in the US Constitution. These wire-taps were ordered "above" the law. All wire-taps require court orders. I think that people would be more affected thinking back at all their private conversations they've had with their best-friends could potentially been listened upon. Is it actually working or are US citizens spending billions on yet another useless program like the all the crap going on in Iraq, Afghanistan and whatever "hell" will happen in Iran. Hmmm.

Because it's just one more thing chipping away at basic human rights as spelled out in the U.S. Constitution.
The three branches of U.S. government were set up to check and balance each other so that no one would have a disproportionate amount of power. By allowing the executive branch to circumnavigate the judicial (by not having to get court permission to wiretap), America is rapidly becoming a police state -- which is the antithesis of a democratic society.

Think about it. We all OBVIOUSLY know that the government is trying to cause world chaos through a series of intriquit and well planned out attacks on our nation in order to reduce the population to a small enough number of elite few in order to repopulate the earth because we only have about 50 years left anyways. SOOO....this then proves.........Nothing, were all screwed regardless.
