I just got a new cell phone. Only had the first about 21 days. I was having trouble charging it, and Sprint gave a new phone to me. (Yes, hours of fun entering the phone numbers again.) The person who waited on me at the Sprint didn't seem like she knew what she was doing and said that you can do it either way. It is a Samsung picture phone.

you are supposed to charge it for the amount of hours it tells you in the manual before using it for the first time. my sister works for bell and thats exactly what she told me and when i looked it up it said the exact same thing

hi
i had gotten a phone once and was anxious to use it and didn't charge it like i should and had charging probs with it the entire length i owned it. it never stayed charged long.
since then, i charge it overnight (regardless of how long the manual says to) and let it completely wear down until it actually goes dead then charge as needed. a cingular salesman told me that way, the battery doesn't record a "memory" an unfull charge.
as far as reprogramming the numbers in, if you would have saved those numbers to the sim card, you can remove that card and put it in the new phone and all that info will be saved and you will never have to reprogram it again.

Usually you have to charge the phone before using it. Read the owners manual that came with your phone too see the recommended charging time (usually 3-8 hours).

it's always a good idea to charge your phone for about 8 hours before you use it. the amount of charge that comes with the battery is about half an hour's worth if that. and it's never really a good idea to let your battery run completely down.

I have been told that when you get a new phone that you should charge it fully before you use it. Cell phone batteries never last regardless of what you do.

most rechargable batteries need to be charged for at least 12 hours the first time, and never completely discharged as this will destroy some battery types

Everytime that I have gotten a phone I was told to let it charge overnight before I used it.
