Concider this, when we're not deployed, we work "normal" jobs with 3 shift operations (usually..if you have an important job that is). This means there is a day shift (7am-3pm) Swing shift (3pm-11pm) Mid shift (11pm-7am) This timeline is ideal...never so. Day shift, yes. Bust swing shift and mid shift work 9-12 hour days. We also work weekends a lot. We can have our shift change multiple times without notice as much as weekly. We don't get paid more for working 12hour days, 6days a week. is that fair? What do you think?

think about this too, if you work and ur spouce works and kids go to school when do get to see them if you're on swing shift? you work 3pm- usually 1am which means you're working when they're home.

I think you people should have the highest paid jobs period.
plus overtime in non combat situations. I think combat pay should be double what you make and you should be the top wage earners in the country.

I believe...YES!!!!......although the way they would go about it would be to say that they are taking away from the National Defense and that they haven't the money to do so. I would love to see them all get perks as well for the unseen, un-talked about hours that are no less than exhaustive. In my father's case, as a marine, they , or someone forgot he was at this post, and he stood there for two and a half days. yes, he was exhausted, BUT a trained man who would do ANYTHING for his country. Someone finally realized it and relieved him of his post. That was one incident....also he was an air traffic controller who had a variety of jobs aside fro the planes, the strategy of which I shall never know, and the hours that man put in were unreal. No extra pay. In answer to your question which is one of the most sound and the best that i have thus far seen, I must concur and tell you that I believe that those working overtime and double shifts and so forth should be compensated and I am Not afraid to say that a medal is NOT enough although that would be good too. Thank you for asking this question. As far as 6 days a week, when you sign up, yo pretty much 'belong' to the government and you go by the rules, tho i would like to see alternating weekends if possible of 6 days and 5 days. oh i could go on and on with this, but shall for now stop. Thanks again and I wish you all the best.

I definately think they should. My brother is in the Navy and he works between 100-130 hours a week. He gets paid a set amount of money every year which makes his hourly pay if it is figured out, about $3 an hour. He has 2 kids and a wife to support. I think that being paid for overtime would definately help him and others as well to support them and their families.

The military is underpaid and unappreciated. It's sad that mercenaries who work for contractors in Iraq are getting paid 10 to 20 times what the soldiers are making. This proves that too much money is being given out in contracts and not enough is being spent on the troops.

While pregnant you get light duty. You stay away from harmful substances like fuel. Mostly desk work. Towards the end of pregnancy 8 hour days only. You get maternity leave and time to recover for taking the PT test.

Well having been there I can say I agree. But in reality they pay you with the benefits, FREE dental, medical, housing, and 2 1/2 days of vacation a month. I didn't mind the hazard pay for being in the desert, but still it wasn't enough.

Since my husband was military for 7 years, deployed for 4 of it, in the "field" training for the rest, and hardly home, constantly on call, I do think they deserve more money than what they get paid. I also don't think they should get taxed on their enlistment bonuses (like, 20% or more taken in taxes). But, you can't beat the healthcare.

Yes. The people actually doing the work should be getting more pay and more respect.

I'd love that...but it would never happen.

They couldn't print the money fast enough with the current pace of deployments.
