The distance between the sun and any plant varies because the orbits are not perfect circles. The closest a planet comes to the sun is called perihelion. The farthest a planet strays from the sun is called aphelion.

For Jupiter:
Perihelion: 740,742,598 km or 4.951 558 43 AU
Aphelion: 816,081,455 km or 5.455 167 59 AU

km = kilometers
AU = astronomical units
