I think that Psychology is like Superpowers and can be used for good and evil. It's just like the DSM IV (the diagnostic manual used for diagnosis) If an uneducated/untrained person attempts to use it, thats evil.
You know, just reading about evolution. I realize a lot of people believe that any science is evil. Good question though. What do you think?

No it is the study of the mind. It's neither evil nor benign, and it is mostly concerned with the analysis of observations not the actual application of medicinal treatment.
BTW mitch Scientology isn't a cult. It is an institution that caters specifically to atheists who are afraid of atheism. For the uncertain non-believer who can't bring himself to commit to being religious or not one way or the other. For those people who want the warm comforts and fortitude of having a god without admitting they believe in one, Scientology has arrived. If you should ever want a half-@ssed temple made for and by confused individuals who can't swallow their pride long enough to admit their confusion but willing to pretend they are on both ends, here ya go!

Pshchology helps us understand human behavior, and in some cases helps people get past bad experiences. The quest for knowledge and understanding isn't evil, individuals just have to use their own common sense to take what is helpful to them. Some religious leaders dislike psychology because it can enable people to become more independent.

Yes, because every theory that is proved is based upon a study of X-amount of people. If a majority of react to a certain way to a research study it is presented as a fact, totally not taking in consideration of their background of their whole life. For example if a group of 100 individually people are shown pictures that are rather neutral and don't react and then are show same pictures with something horrible in them and still don't react. They draw a conclusion that we are desensitized as a the whole human race.

First; it is a social science, not really science, despite what psychologist might tell you. Secondly; it is not so much evil as confused.
