It could be anything from a bad ball joint on the suspension to a lack of power steering fluid. In any case don't let it go on any more than you have to, especially if your vehicle has run out of warranty or extended coverage. Check the power steering fluid first as that is a fairly easy "do it yourself" fix. Location and specifications should be in your owner's manual, otherwise, the power steering reservoir looks like a small cylinder with a silver dollar sized screw cap on top with a dipstick attached. Any reputable auto parts store should be able to reference which steering fluid you need. If the fluid is NOT the culprit, then you should schedule a service appointment right away. Hope this helps some and drive safe!!

If the clicking is random, like soft ticking or pops, it's metal expansion. As the engine warms up, various sheet metal heat shields mounted to the engine expand and change shape slightly, causing the clicking, ticking, and popping. If it's a regular click-click-click sound, like a clock ticking, you have a defective cam follower (hydraulic valve lifter). The ticking continues until the lifter primes itself and fills with oil, which ends the clicking. Normally, the lifters should stay filled with oil unless the vehicle sits idle for a VERY long time, months and months. It will gradually worsen over time, to the point where the clicking may not go away.

It's called your CV Joint. Not expensive, it just may cost as much in labor as it does in parts. Ask around, to see where other people have had work done on their cars, and then take yours there. Any local mechanic should do a decent job on it.

Your CV joints are bad. those are the joints which connect on your axle from your transmission to your wheels. If they are clicking then have them fixed right away as they will go out and leave you stranded
