Sounds like one of a set of coins you can buy in museum gift shops. There's a carboard holder and a coin for each president with that kind of info on it. Base metal, cheap plating, no real value.

It sounds like a commemorative coin on his death.
There is a market for such coins on eBay. You may get $10 to $20 for it.

It cant be from 1945-1953 if it says died 1972. Unless it could tell the future.
