Why do people buy pieces of the moon. How can the person selling it actually even claim to own it in the first place?

about twenty years ago a guy started selling pieces of the moon and stars using a mail order service. the starting price was AUD$20.00> depending on what you wanted. so this means there are thousands of people out there who already own prime moon real estate and have contracts to prove it. make sure your not trying to purchase something from someone who has not got the authority to sell it.
