You are so young, and when you first start your period it always seems to be off track it never really gets normal untill you are older. When I was 13 I got my period and it was way out of wack for a year or so and then it kinda got normal. It went from light to really heavy to almost nothing at all. Stress plays a big factor in getting your period. It will almost make it dissapear. The best thing to do is to try and relax and not think about it. The more you worry, the later it will come. Its funny that way. And dont be afraid to talk to your mom even though she has been through a lot. Just talk to her and tell her whats going on, and let you know you care that she is going through a lot right now but you also need her help and reassurance. Dont worry if you havent been sexually active, which I hope not cause you are too young, it will come and it will level out. Fun being a girl hey?!!

All of those things could affect it. As long as you have not had unprotected sex (which I hope you haven't at 12!!) and are sure you are not pregnant I would say it is probably the stress. I have a friend who got hers on and off for years. After she got married it took her a little longer to have kids because her cycle was not regular but she eventually had 2 healthy boys. I would tell your mother, even if you are afraid that it will stress her out further. She will be glad that you felt comfortable enough to share it with her. You can decided together to go to the doctor if the situation doesn't improve. I'm sure she would always want be able to comfort you if something is wrong. She is going through a stressful time and would probably feel better if she could just sit and talk to you about what is going on with her as well. Make sure you give her a big hug! Best of luck!

I think that all the factors that you have mentioned are playing role... I got my period when I was 13 and it has always been like clock work....BUT if i get really stressed out about stuff and worry alot then it will go off course...If you are really worried about it then i would go to the doctor....It is nothing really to freak out about....it happens it is all part of being a woman LOL amoung other things LOL....I think you need to take a break try to breath deep and calm you r nerves with a long hot bath and get some good sleep....other wise you can go see you doctor and see what he/she says about what to do.... best of luck...and my condolenses for the lost.....life is tough and sometimes it helps make you stronger....

It could be the weight loss or the stress as well as many other factors. I think to be fair to your mom you should tell her and let her decide if it is something that is going to stress her out. A quick trip to the doctor would do the trick. Do you want your mom to find out you have not been telling her and have it turn out to be serious? Sounds like you care too much to let that happen.

You should tell your mom, though she may be under stress, she'd also care to know what's going on in your world. Especially any health issues, it's always better to be safe than sorry. I know personally, dieting and stress both can be factors in an irregular period. Sometimes people just have irregular cycles also. I've had friends who've had to be put on birth control and such to regulate it as much as possible. It's definitely something you should get seen about. Good luck.

Many things could be causing your period to be irregular. Stress is definitely one of them. You really should talk with your mother about this. She may be under alot of stress lately but she is more interested in your well being. A visit to the gynecologist will help to identify your problem and find a way to fix it. Good luck!

Stress can affect blood sugar which can affect hormone production, which definitely affects periods.
You cannot always do much about the stress, however you may be able to eat foods that help keep your (and maybe your relative's) blood sugar as level as humanly possible.
There are some books in the library link at www.hufa.org that can assist by telling you which foods are better at helping one control blood sugar - and which are not.
Give yourself 2 weeks to let your body get used to a new diet, before deciding whether or not to continue.

I am sure that your mother loves you very much. If you feel the need to go to the doctor you must tell your mom. Think about it this way - how do you think your mom would feel if something were wrong with you and you didn't tell her. Do you think she could handle that right now? You are her daughter. Talk to your mom. Wouldn't you want your mom to tell you if she thought something was wrong with her?
