The U.S. Collaborative Review of Sterilization (CREST) found the failure rate for tubal ligation (all occlusion methods) to be 1.85% after 10 years [1].
Because of the high rate of ectopic pregnancy, women of child bearing age who have had tubal sterilization should have a pregnancy test performed if they have not had a menstrual period. If the woman is pregnant, then she should be evaluated further for the presence of an ectopic pregnancy.

In the absence of complicating maternal conditions a pregnancy found to be within the uterus after tubal ligation (without a coexisting tubal pregnancy) would not be expected to be at increased risk for miscarriage or fetal abnormality. Here are a few things for you. YES you can still get preg!

If your tubes were tied, they can come untied. There are many people who have gotten pregnant after a tubal.
You can do a search for pregnancy after tubal ligation and probably find quite a few.

I had my tubes done but mine were clamped. I was told the highest chance of pregnancy was within the first 5 years of the surgery and then the risk decreases. Having them just tied or just clamped are the riskiest. Tied and burned is the most effective.

What is Tubal Ligation?

Tubal ligation, commonly knows as “getting your tubes tied,” is a surgical sterilization technique for women. This procedure closes the fallopian tubes, and stops the egg from traveling to the uterus from the ovary. It also prevents sperm from reaching the fallopian tube to fertilize an egg. In a tubal ligation, fallopian tubes are cut, burned, or blocked with rings, bands or clips. The surgery is effective immediately. Tubal ligations are 99.5% effective as birth control. They do not protect against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS.

Future Fertility

Tubal ligation is considered a permanent method of birth control. Surgery to reverse a tubal ligation is not always effective. In addition, reversals are both difficult and expensive.

I hope that helps

It can happen...even if they are clamped and burned....I just talked to a lady about this because it happened to her daughter. She had that procedure done two years about and is due in January. Her family all thought she was suffering from some sort of wierd depression and regretted getting it done when she first thougth she was pregnant...and she was right! They've done a whole bunch of tests to make sure it is not just a tubal pregnancy and its not. The baby is developing just fine!

Actually it is possible but very rare.

They have had a thing about this on the news. They had a woman who is a grandmother who had twins and had her tubes tied like 20 years ago.
