I believe I got like a 440 on Math 430 in Reading and a 390 in writing....I know thats horrible but should I send my scores to colleges anyway if Im planning on taking the ACT? I know for a fact that I will do better......A college sent me an application and I dont want to put that score on there because they will think Im dumb and that was just really a bad test day for me. Should I just wait until I take the ACT to send the application back or do you think they will accept me with that score?????
p.s My high school academic record is fairly good.....speaks for itself

well, depending on your record they'll accept a little lower on the sat, if you haven't already taken it 3 times I suggest taking it once more and studying, it will supplement any ACT scroe you get. They will ask for it regardless of your sending them the score. with a 1260 though I'm not sure that is competitive, but if you have a fairl outstndng scholastic record it just may balence out. I'm nt sue (I got into colege ith a 2.17 GPA and a1920 on my SAT, 660, 640, 620 Writing, Readig and Math respectively). Try again if you haven't already, if you do better you wil get the higher of the scores. Also, what year are you? if you're a jounior you have time, if you're a senior you need to hurry. if you're anything lower take your time. Also, keep track of the deadline for the colleges you want to enter...it will give you an idea of how long you have...

You should definitely take the SAT again especially if it was a bad day for you and you know you can do a lot better. Don't just automatically resort to the ACT. If you did badly just because you were having a bad day, colleges would rather see what you can do and won't look down on you having taken the SAT more than once. Also, study a lot!! Get together with friends and study and study in your spare time.

my science teacher gave me some good advice on this one. he said that colleges are more likely to take someone with low grades and a high SAT score b/c they can see their potential, but when they see someone with high grades and a low SAT score then they will see someone who worked really hard but is burned out and will be less willing to work hard in college. It sucks and may not be true but i'd still suggest taking the SAT's again if you know you can do better.

It depends alot on the university, and which school in the U. you are applying to. There are some universities that will let you in if you haven't even got your GED yet. I don't think people will judge you by your test score. Intelligence is perceived much more in personality than in grades or tests.

maybe you should just retake the SAT, more colleges accept it.
