I'm watching the same thing... they're not actually breathing, they're making the movements, its a way for them to develop the diaphram

Unborn babies don't really "breathe" in the womb. They do suck in and out the amniotic fluid (the mother's "water"). They receive all nutrients and gas exchange (oxygen/carbon dioxide) through the placenta and Umbilical cord. When they are born and take their first breath of air, a chemical called surfactant is secreted into the lungs causing them to be able to inflate correctly.

They breathe the body fluid in the mother's womb, like a kind of water. Have you seen the Abyss?

No, they don't breathe. Their lungs are filled with amniotic fluid until they are born. They receive oxygen via the umbilical cord from the mother.

They don't. Circulation and oxygenation occurs via the placenta until birth occurs. That is when a series of mechanical changes occur during the chest being squeezed and hopefully the first breath is taken.

They don't. They live off blood (including oygenated blood and flood) from the mother until birth. That is when they take their first breath of air.
Which is why we call that the start of life.

Their lungs are filled with amniotic fluid. Like everyone else said it is the cord that delivers oxygen.
