The one that I find easiest to use is SpeedGuide.net's TCP Optimizer (http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php). All you have to do is start the program and select the type of Internet connection you use (e.g. DSL or Cable) and TCP Optimizer will do the rest.
A better tool is CableNut but it is a little bit more complicated. You can download it at: (http://www.student.ipfw.edu/~gottjl01/)
Thankfully, the website extremetech.com has created a guide to use CableNut.

Download firefox, then get fasterfox extension...if you don't already have dsl, upgrade. it's better for you in the longrun.
