Are they blind? Why can't they see people in this country are working HARD, longer hours, less pay, and no insurance, can't even afford to purchase it themselves (because it's highway robbery), and they are barely scraping by. Living expenses like rent or mortgage take up such a huge percentage of pay that what's left over doesn't buy anything extra. (which is why we are a country in huge credit card debt).
Then they will just flippantly say, 'well, if you don't have any more skill to make more money, just take a class' ! Hello!? With what money and what extra time? what if they have kids..? lol, more than a few conservatives say that if you are poor, you should hand your kids over... yup, stop your sobbing, and hand the kid over, to the state I guess, who knows, cons are so short sighted.
Why do they assume cons. rich are "good"? If you are conservative and poor, does that make you bad, or do they just pretend you don't exist?

sweetcinnamon: Why don't you read the post directly below you.
It's obvious that you have never put in a hard day's work for pittens in your life.
Now go drive off to your next class in the overpriced SUV daddy bought for you.

I am a Republican and more moderate than conservative but I think of myself as conservative, and I don't think that at all. I know what it's like not to make enough money (We live, but we've got to juggle and we go pay check to pay check.). I have a Masters Degree and my husband is a programmer and it's still difficult. So don't assume that all Republicans say or think that anymore than you want Republicans to assume that working hard gives you enough money to live. Kerry, Gore, or the Kennedys aren't having any problem surviving and doing quite well, so I think it's more of a rich v poor, particularly those who were born to it than it is a Republican v Democrat.

Seems like you have it all figured . Now that you know the rules stop whining , get off the system and go to work. You may be surprised. As for the poor people with kids, I would say that in its self is poor planning. If one can't support children don't have them. There are two sure fire ways to accomplish this goal. The first is called abstinence, the second have your tubes tied.

It would be my opinion the Liberals are responsible for many of the problems that exist. This means enablement via Welfare, Affirmative Action, and all give programs. Enablement allows anyone to stay exactly where they are. Which by the way, is what the liberals want. So you will VOTE for them. You get the hamburger and they get the Steak. And the wonderful thing is it is all free. But wait!!!!! Someone has to pay for it. I'll bet you can't guess who that would be.

We have to line thier pockets with green paper to keep them happy.
Hard work and no play has been the theme for the past 6 years and will be for at least another 2 years until we get them out of office but
there is the mid term elections comming up this Nov we could see a big change then, but the Dem. and Ind Dem. have to take control of the congress and senate and both houses For the past 6 years Ive had to put more time into my job and take 2 cuts in pay I gess thats so my employer can line the pockets of the Repubs and have them lobby for more hour of work and less pay.

Time to Vote /Lets hope the Vote is counted right this time.
Repubu have stolen more office space then Pro Baseball players have stolen bases.

I hope your question is a good eye opener for a large number of readers THANKS!!

Awesome post! Sounds like a double standard, doesn't it?

I recall starting my life here with all my belongings fitting in three paper bags. I got married, then divorced and was alone raising a baby, and a tot.

Oh, I went through hell working and studying! I recall having to put the boys in bed by 6:00pm, and getting up at 5:00am so I could catch up with my homework. I searched, and found a scholarship from the AAUW (American Association for University Women) that helped me immensely.

Today, sixteen years later, I finally have the stable job I always wanted. I finally make enough money to pay the mortgage on our first, single family home. Still, just the boys and I.

It will not happen easy, but you need to start today. Look for grants for women in your situation. Take advantage of programs for women, and minorities that train for free. And hunny, give it time. Keep the momentum going. It will happen maybe late, but it will come and your efforts will be rewarded.

I see myself in you, the same fears, issues and struggles. If I did it, you can do it too, sweetie. Good luck, from the bottom of my heart

jane l, the US is now the most rightwing industrialized nation on earth. If you want to work 24/7 to become a millionaire and join Bush in the top 1% of income earners you can do it. There's no better place than America to do it.

If you miss forget it. We're the only industrialized nation that doesn't offer universal healthcare. The wingnuts say that we get much better healthcare than "socialized medicine". Why do US citizens only live for one more year on average than Mexicans or Cubans?

Their foremost politicians are to 100% those who both "made it" or were born with the silver spoon. the first ones will see their own tale because the living information of the myth, the others do not recognize some thing about the life of accepted human beings contained in the first position. both communities do not opt for to carry close, both.

Jane, repuglicans, don't you just love them, not a realistic answer among them yet accuse you of having no plan. They don't even realize that they serve the very rich well with their votes for repuglicans that tend to take away from them, Bush has sold them on the idea that he has lowered their taxes, even one answer last night said he give them $300, which is completely false. What fools they are. But oh well all we can do is work harder to get them out of office and try to get democrats in and hope for the best.

If you think you are poor now, you will definitely not be happy if by some unholy act we get government funded health care. It will be extremely expensive and you can count on at least a 20% increase in income taxes. There are millions of poor conservatives. They just believes in being responsible for themselves. They believe the government owes them nothing and would prefer to owe the government nothing.
