Well, if you have ever seen gymnastics on TV or the Olympics, you know it looks hard and it IS hard. But you are wanting to learn stuff that is not complicated, the simple stuff that is the backbone of gymnastics. But this is actually the hardest part is the beginning. Once you are around gymnastics and wanting to do back handspring after back, it becomes as easy as walking. But practice is obviously the KEY.
But.
An easy way to just learn a few things is start on a trampoline. On the trampoline you might think it is easier, but really it is harder because the surface isn't steady. But if you fall, you won't get hurt. So start on a trampoline. Put little marks of tape when your hands should be to guide you. Once you can do cartwheels on the tamp, the ground should be easy. Start on grass, it doesn't hurt too much. But the best way to help NOT break your neck is to take a class. Normally only $50 for beginners. You will have good spotters and trainers who have been around gymnastics for years. Have fun!

Cary Grant does a cartwheel in one of his "screwball comedies" in the 30's. He is doing a chattering dialog with his leading lady, and he suddenly flips back once or twice down a long hall, and then rushes back to the camera, and starts chattering again, saying it relaxes him to do backflips. The whole scene may have been improvised on the spot by him, and under Preston Sturges' innovative direction, he became noted for this spontaneity. He learned to do backflips in the circus where he worked as a young man prior to the movies, where his good looks led him,

start out in a mini cart wheel keep your knees bent and don't worry about getting your feet off the floor that much. once you feel comfortable with that kick alittle higher and straighter. Just keep on going at a pace that works for you and before you know it you'll be cartwheelin down the halls

hi
cartwheels are not hard once u learn it and at first i was having a hard time learning it too and i fell a lot and it hurt but i kept practicing (i did not break anything or hurt myself). but backflips are really hard if u are tall and old because when u are young u are my flexible and light enough to flip over easily but when u get older it get really hard so u would have to use all your strength to filp over. front flips are easier but if u want to do it perfectly its hard(the getting up without fall or landing on your knees part). i hope i helped.

Start off with padding (grass will do if you don't feel like going anywhere special) the real key in a cart wheel is confidence and keeping everything ridgid (i'm just talking cart whele, going to the side) anything else and I suggest going to a well padded floor (like a jumper or wrestling room or gymnastics room) to practice.

Of course it would be a bit scary but in my opinion you just gotta picture your form ans go for it ans do it and don't think about it to much and it you feel comfortable after the first couple times keep practicing! You can also do a search for techniques and demonstrations if it is just for fun ans not something you want to take a class for.

not at all!!! its all about balance and coordination. cartwheels are basically inbred in everybody so ask some friends to supervise and just to be safe, make sure they know how to do them too so they can give you pointers and make sure you put cushion around you in case slip. and yes i have slipped.....and yes it hurts.............alot. but you heal and move on. :) hope this helped.
