I'm 19 years old right now. Am I still a young girl? Or have I become a young woman now?

I believe that it often depends on the culture, but her in the U.S I would consider you a woman. I think that a lot of it has to do with your first period, but also with the way you carry yourself. I have a 16 year old grand daughter who is very responsible and mature and I would consider her a woman. On the other hand I would females (probationers) that are very irresponsible and immature and the only reason I call them women is because of their age. What do you consider yourself, based on your maturity and behaviors and attitudes?

It's definitely open to interpretation. Some people say it's when a girl has her first period or her first child. I don't know how well either of those work, personally. Some girls get their periods when they're nine- not women. Some women never had children. Losing virginity is another measure, or just when a girl becomes 18 and legally an adult. Maybe it's just when you feel like an adult- but I'm 25, and still feel very young.

Biologically, it's when the reproductive cycle is fully mature and you ovulate and get your period - not just get your period for the first time.

Mentally is completely open to interpretation. I say it's the day you are mature enough to deal with what life throws at you, and don't fall head over heels for the most adorable guy in the class anymore and know what you want from yourself and any friends or partners.

You're a young woman now. I think you're past being a young girl.

I mean, you're almost hitting your 20s. You're a woman.
