It's a manual transmission, mazda 626, I believe it is a 94 model. It is turning, but not firing...we thought it was the distributor or the alternator, but we aren't sure...Is there any EASY way to figure out why it isnt firing?

The timing belt is fine, and it is not getting a spark...I was hoping to narrow the problem down a little bit, because my friend really cannot afford a mechanic at the moment, and he desperately needs the car in order to get to and from work...

If your timing belt or chain is good...then look at the coil...normally you can have a coil checked at your local parts store. If it's not that then there is a module either on the fire wall or within the distributor....one of these is causing the problem.

Yes there is a simple way, call AAA or a mechanic and they will let you know what is wrong with it in a matter of minutes.

Take off one of the plug wires and see if it's getting any spark.
