the red one is or the black one that is closest to the firewall , but there is no dipstick in there, it is only a cap. dipsticks do not come on late model Mercedes Benz's
You check you engine oil level thru your dash board via your FSS system. Its in your owners manual on how to do this. The transmission is filled with Mercedes Benz Long Life synthetic fluid, which is NOT compatible with other fluids. You Must use Mercedes Benz ATF ONLY. Transmission fluid services are NOT REQUIRED on late model Benz Transmissions, UNLESS there is a leak or other transmission related problem.
So with that said take your vehicle to a shop that KNOWS Mercedes Benz vehicles and have them check your transmission level thru their Mercedes Benz WDS or compatible Scan tool or use the Available, at the dealer special order universal dipstick to check the level yourself.

Transmission fluid is RED, so by checking both and process of elimination, you should be able to determine which is which.... Most OIL dipsticks have a YELLOW ring on the top, so I'm not sure where everyone is getting their info from. Like everyone else, I will suggest looking in your owner's manual to verify the location of each. Remember RED is transmission fluid and has a much longer dipstick, yellow (should be) is oil and will have a comparably shorter dipstick. Another way to check is to look at the line the dipstick comes out of if possible, your oil dipstick will go towards the bottom of the engine, while the transmission will travel down and back towards the bell housing of the transmission. Hope this helps out.

The transmission dipstick should be the 1 that seems like it is going right down to the bottom of the engine and like it is going towards the front floorboard of the car and the dipstick will have a reddish-pink color to it. The oil dipstick should be the 1 that`s right there in front of you and it should have a clear or dirty brown-black color depending on the age of the car and the last oil change. Good Luck! I do know what I`m talking about! But you have to look at the fluid color on the stick to know for sure!!

Transmission dipstick is on the right (passanger) side of the engine closer to the back. Although newer models don't actually have dipstick - it's just a plastic cap. If it's newer model, you need to take it to a dealer to check the transmission fluid.

Too easy mate, the automatic dipstick is usually shorter than the normal oil dipstick and the auto trans fluid is red normal oil is black, if u dont have a reading by pulling either of them out, start the car then try both again, auto trans fluid is more acurately measured when the engine is going, hope that helps!

I am not sure about this model, but if you don't have the owners manual and can't find it on the web, it would 99% be the longest of the two is the transmission.

if you know the difference between your transmission and your engine...the one going to the engine is the oil and the one going to the transmission is just that. If that don't help...your engine oil will be a light brown(hopefully you change your oil) and the transmission oil will be red in color.
