You need to pump bottles before you go out. Then after you drink, you need to pump and dump! If you are planning to drink heavily (more than 2 drinks), you may want to give it 6-8 for it to leave your system. Some people even say 24 hours. Just make sure you have enough good milk stored up before you go out. I not saying that you should go out and drink, but whatever you do just make sure your being responsible about it.

Yes, it can transfer. If possible, pump some milk to feed your baby later. Nurse before you go out and then feed the pumped milk when the baby is hungry again. As long as you still feel the effects of alcohol, it is still in the breastmilk, (and probably even longer). I used to give myself about three hours after the last drink if I had wine or beer with a meal.

YES!! it can transfer to your milk. What you need to do is pump enough milk or have formula on hand to get your child through the night. alcohol stays in your "milk-stream" for about 3-4 hours after you have had your last drink. So whatever your alcohol blood level is for YOU, it will be the same for your baby should you decide to breastfeed right after drinking. I recommend just waiting until the next day (about 8 hours) before breastfeeding again. That's what i did and it never affected my son, and i also never had the guilt of him maybe getting any alcohol in his system. Good luck i hope this helps.

YES YES YES it get's in the breast milk. (Funny thing i just had this conversation last night with a friend) When you are done drinking you need to express for 3 "cycles" before it is out of your system. I wouldn't take the risk. I know you wanna go out and you can but get something non-alcoholic and make the best of it. Remember, It's not forever!

Everything that you eat or drink crosses the breast milk. if you really have to drink pump enough breast milk to give your baby for the next 24 hours, by that time the alcohol will be out of your system!

Alcohol transfers to breast milk very easily, and it will stay in your milk as long as it stays in the rest of your body...about 24 hours to completely remove the toxicity.

You're a Mom now. Why would you need or want to drink?

Yes, the alcohol can absoloutely transfer into your milk! Make sure to pump enough before you go out to last the child for the next day.
I am not sure how long it takes for the alcohol to be out of your system, but 24hrs sounds safe to me. Besides, if you are drinking tonight, you may not feel up to feeding tomorrow!
Please, make sure you pump before you start drinking!

Alcohol metabolizes pretty quickly. If you're not feeling buzzed anymore, it's out of your system and out of your milk. I researched it a great deal before I went to a wedding a few months ago. Have a good time out!

One drink won't hurt anything, but rule of thumb is 4 hours after you stop and add 1 hour per two additional drinks you have. Be sure to pump and dump the first feeding if you have more then one.

One will not hurt anything, I asked my DRs and LLL about it b/c we have wine with dinner sometimes and they said as long as that was all I had there was no need to worry about it.
