I have never played paintball, but I have played airsoft once or twice.
Anyways, Most of my friends play paintball. I was wanting to get into it because most of my friends hate airsoft. I just wanted to get a few answers to a few questions.
1) I was wondering what kind of gun a beginner should use. A walmart gun maybe? I just want to try it out to see if I like it.
2) How bad do paintballs hurt? Can you compare it to something? It is like a sting or a punch? ( I am not afraid, I just want to know what to expect.)
3) What kind of clothes should I wear?
4) What do all the part do? (The hopper, the barrel, etc.)
5) If I like it what is a good gun? And what is a good gun that can get upgrades? I like to customize my stuff.
6) Is it more of a run-n-gun type of game? Or a stealthy war-like game?
Sorry for all the questions, but I want to see if I like it and use it as a way to meet new people and make new friends. And of course to play with my other friends.
Thanks in advance!!!

I only watched my son play it in an arena
if you are in an arena, they outfit you with everything you need.
if you are playing it in the street - don't - people don't like to have random blobs of paint hit their homes and cars
if you are playing it in a field designated for it - then you can use any paintball gun (my son has one that he picked up for about 50.
a paintball hit will hurt if it's on the skin - you will get a welt.
clothing - OLD - paintball paint doesn't come out in the wash. If you are not in an area that provides clothing, you should wear sturdy jeans and a big shirt with long sleeves. you would be wise to make it a turtle neck even, cuase if you get hit in the neck, it really hurts (my son got it in the neck once). you should also have a mask which covers your entire face as in a hard plastic shield of some sort.
the hopper is where you pour your paintballs. it feeds the gun
that;s all i know about that
it's a run and gun and a stealthy war like game - depends on how many players are on the field - but the more the merrier divided into 2 teams - it lookd like a riot to me - and I'm not a gun fan at all!
ps - please be careful - although it's fun it's still a gun and it can do damage. And please don't ever use it to exact revenge or anything. even for fun. We've had our school paintballed and it wasn't fun getting it off the building.

Buy a Spyder, fairly inexpensive and work good. If you are playing on a field rent for a while
2) How bad do paintballs hurt? Can you compare it to something? It is like a sting or a punch? ( I am not afraid, I just want to know what to expect.)
They can leave a good bruise, have even seen them break skin. Usually they don't hurt though.
3) What kind of clothes should I wear?
Fatigues, mask, gloves.
4) What do all the part do? (The hopper, the barrel, etc.)
hold the paint, shoot etc....
5) If I like it what is a good gun? And what is a good gun that can get upgrades? I like to customize my stuff.
THey'll cahnge over time if you like it you'll figure this out on your own.
6) Is it more of a run-n-gun type of game? Or a stealthy war-like game?
Depends, there are a variety of games that you can play on fields.

1. Borrow one of your friends guns if they'll let you.
2. Get a rubber band pull it back on your skin and let it loose about five or six times. It hurts.
3. Clothes you don't mind getting rid of when you're done.
4. The hopper stores all of the paintballs and the canister holds the co2 that propels the ball through the barrel.
5. Any gun you can afford is a good gun. You can modify just about every gun out there.
6. It can be both types.
BTW I've never played. Logic is a good thing. Wear googles when you play also. A cup may also be advisable.

Well, I have a lot of experience in airsoft, but not much in paintball. If you've ever got hit by an airsoft BB at close range, it will probably hurt more than that. I have also herd that they can leave welts. There is one way to avoid that, and that is buying either armor at Dick's for 50 bucks for a vest, or you can probably wear a heck of a lot of shirts. Paintball can also be both types of games you mentioned, either running around, or stealthy war type.] I do not know much about the guns, but I do know, that unlike airsoft, you cannot play in a backyard. You have to go a place where you can play.
