i'm on the nuva-ring. I've been using it for a year now. I had a 2 day period after being 2 days late for it. I had to put a new ring in which ended the period. Its been a week now with the new ring in and 2 days ago i started having brown stuff come out (spotting?). Today i dont have any spotting just clear mucus (tmi)....I've also came close to fainting 2 times this week ( the second time was when i noticed the brown spotting). I've been cramping slightly. I work long hours so its hard to get ahold of my gyno. Should i take my ring out or is it safe to just leave in? Any ideas on the spotting? I'm really confused as i use the bc the way i'm supposed to but i know not every bc is 100 percent preventive pregnancy-wise. I just need help with figuring this out.....thanks.

I'd take the ring out and go to the doctor. Your health is more important than your job. Make time for the doctor. Take care of you!!

You might have an infection. Honestly it sounds like some symptoms I had about 3 yrs ago with an infection I had. Get to a doctor and get checked out. It could be a lot of different things. The mucus makes it sound like an infection but you really should get it checked out. I hate to say it but it sounds like it could be an STD don't panick the one I had that caused those symptoms wasn't bad and it was curable. And don't be emberassed if it is or something caused by the ring, it can happen even to those who are careful and safe. Specially if your man is running around on you that is how I found out my EX boyfriend was cheating on me when I got that. Get checked it's better to know before it could potentially get worse. TSS can cause symptoms like these, Toxi Shock Syndrome which can be fatal so make sure you get seen, better safe than sorry.

OK< here goes, to be on the safe side, I would definately make sure I got a hold of my Doctor, but in the mean time since your are having the trouble with feeling like you are fainting, you should
take a few days off from work and give your body time to adjust to the
trama it has been through, you see our bodies have a way of telling us to be careful, and of course I myself would call a Hospital and get in contact with a nurse in the ER and just tell that person my concerns and get their advice...So to listen to your body and take care of it, and go very slow for now on having any sexual contact until you are sure your body is able to handle it ....
Take care of you, your are the only one who will........
Sincerely concerned in NC

I am sure that there is a side effect of possible break through bleeding - all of them have this though if you have never gotten it in the last year, I would want to talk to my doctor - call their emergency number if need be.

Do you have the sheet that usually comes with birth control items that has the side effects on it? Sounds like your having some bad side effects to me. You could probably look online for side effects as well.
