Blah, blah, blah. That's what I read. :) I hate to break it to you, but your baby will get exactly what he/she needs from the breastmilk, even if it means taking it from you! How mean to mommy! :-D Don't be worried about the baby, be worried about you! I sympathize about not getting meals--my husband would come home and the first thing I'd have him do was make me something because I"d been on the sofa breastfeeding all day! :) Protein shakes are great! Here's my list of things to have on hand to eat fast. Ask someone to get them for you from the store or put together a snack drawer when you have someone else around to help with the baby:

String cheese (but watch for reaction to dairy if you are breastfeeding--it might be fine but if he's gassy, stop for a while)
Yogurt
Nuts
Pretzels
PowerBars
Fruit (bananas, apples, whatever needs no prep)
Pre-cut veggies
Hard boiled eggs
Whole wheat crackers
Bread
Lunch meat

It will take a few more weeks but your baby's tummy will get bigger and you will start to see a pattern of eating and sleeping--which means your life will take on a little order. I promise, you will also get to shower again without worrying the baby will wake up! In the meantime, eat what you can when you can and drink a lot of water!

It would be best to eat 3 square meals, but if its between crackers and water and a protien shake then i would suggest the shake.

Your body naturaly produces the milk so most of the nutirets baby needs are there.

Im more concerened about your health...try to find help or create a schedual where you can eat full meals on a regular basis, i know it sounds hard, but its important for you and your baby.

if you're only consuming crackers and water this is probably why your baby isn't sleeping enough for you to be able to have time to eat! if you don't eat the right foods your baby will not get the nutrition he/ she needs. At 4 weeks your baby should be sleeping 2 to 3 hours between feedings. If the baby is hungry more often than every 4 hours this is an indication your milk is not filling the nutritional needs of the baby! Talk to your doctor immediately. It's not good if a new born baby looses wieght!

Yes, or even protein bars. If you don't keep nourished your baby won't get what he/she needs. It is also recommended you continue with your prenatal vitamins. Also keep fruit on hand like an apple, that you can eat with one hand. Don't worry it will get easier.

because of the fact the companies that make issues like that (besides as drugs) have not examined them on pregnant or nursing mothers. it quite is a entire CYA pass. they don't desire to be sued.
