My father and my mother were married in korea and when they separated he and i came to the u.s. He got a divorce in louisiana but she was never served and never signed the papers...in korea they are still married but not in the u.s....... can she contest this divorce 20 years later

my father came back to the u.s. and got divorced legally but she never got the papers..i guess the judge granted it when she didnt respond...BUT he said that if she came back to contest it that he would remain married to her!!! im hoping it works

A divorce can be contested even after 20 minutes. I don't know much about divorce, but from what you've said, it doesn't sound like the divorce is final since she was never served papers.

Talk to a reputable divorce lawyer and see what he/she says. Good luck.

Sorry but you are playing with fire here. First your mother and farther got married in Korea. Your farther got divorce in Louisiana. They are divorced. Doesn't matter that you mother never got papers. The Korean government recognizes USA divorce papers just had USA recognized the marriage. They would have to remarry.

Last here is a kicker for you. Unless papers were filled for you to be a citizen in the USA you not one. To be a citizen you must be born in this country or have both parents USA citizens. It is not a big deal your Farther should have fixed that years ago. You might look into it.

They are married here as they were there. You can go anywhere and get married and bring your marriage records and show you are married...There is no divorce to contest if papers were never signed...Your parents are married..Pray they stay that way!

I would really doubt that you can contest a divorce after 20 long years.
