My thoughts are that its best to breast feed, at least for the first few months of your baby's life. Breast milk contains antibodies and colostrum (a highly nutritious protein source). Babies get antibodies against certain colds and viruses from their mom while she is pregnant, and also from breast milk. That can help improve the babies immune system.
Your doctor can give you more indepth reasons to or not to breast feed. These are my thoughts.

breast feeding provides your infant with antibodies and immunity to certain things until they can produce them on their own, also since breast milk is made especially for babies it has the ultimate nutrional value for your infant, however formula is made to simulate breast milk nutrition and is also a healthy thing for them. Breastfeeding is wonderful for feeding as well as mother/child bonding and is very fullfilling as a mom to be feeding your infant. I breastfed for several months and also fed my son breastmilk in a bottle, I did end up switching to formula due to a production problem of breastmilk. My son did very well on both, I friends who just breastfed and friends who just used formula and their children were equally healthy. For me breastfeeding is the first choice, I love the fact that my body is made to not only carry my child but to feed him/her also. But dont let anyone force your decision it is yours, and either way your child will be just fine. Naturally breastfeeding is the best thing for baby, its easy you dont have to worry about carrying bottles unless you want to, the milk is always ready, and it is so nutritious, I did find working and nursing difficult as I was pumping at work and having to pump in between feedings to provide plenty for daycare and when I needed to be out, or for when daddy was feeling left out. but other then that, the rewards were fantastic...
