we are currently undertaking some reseach, and believe that there are some significant differences in what women look for in websites.

Ease of use. (women are generally not so comfortable with computer technology)
Good language. (women are more verbal than men in more ways than one)
Speed. (women will not wait for a site to upload - if they can't access it straight away they may choose to go elsewhere)
Lack of condescension.
Lack of violence (viz the bulk of computer games revolve around people killing people and are much more popular with men than women)

I love the way that men assume we're not hip and with it as far as the computer jive goes. I can assure you that I am as cool as the next person.

I want;

1) Security - I do not want some crappy trojan or browser hijack just because you mistakenly believe that you can lock me into your site; or that you can persuade me to hand over my card details because I'm too stupid to figure out how to get rid of you otherwise. Plus if I hand over my details I want to know they're safe.
2) I want a reliable company, and when you say you have customer service thats what I expect.
3) Remember, users don't read websites; we scan them. I want it fast and I want it now. If I wanted an encyclopedia I'd be at Wiki. I don't care how good you think you are at Flash, I use Firefox and I'm on dial up anyway.
4) I don't want to come away with my eyeballs bleeding from your attention grabbing colour scheme...
5) and I want disabled access. I'm not as young as I used to be.

Thats for shopping. Otherwise I'd add tell me something interesting or make me laugh. Or at least have some eye candy!

Well they obviously look for something simple. Women are not into computers as much as men so do not do something so complicated that they will not get. Women always enjoy a good joke so remember to be fun in your website. If your looking at making a blog be descriptive. Add a lot of detail in your posts.
