I see features like Horsepower, RPMs, Capacity, Continuous Feed and Batch Feed. What matters most and why?

It all depends on how you are going to use the disposal. If you normally have a few items to run down the drain or a lot of things. If you have heavy bulky items or light things to dispose of. The horse power of the unit should match the usage. A mid sized unit would be sufficient for most households.

A continuous feed unit is operated from an external switch such as a wall switch at or under the sink and can be continuously fed garbage as the unit is run. A batch feed unit is operated from an internal switch that is activated with the "stopper". A batch of garbage is loaded into the unit and the "stopper" is inserted and usually turned to activate the switch. After the batch has been ground up and gone down the drain another batch is loaded and the process continues.

It depends on personal preference and how the wireing is set up for the unit as to which size and type to install.

As a licensed Journeyman Plumber.
The number 1 rule with a disposer is never to put anything down it you would not eat one setting.
And use a lot of water when using it.
The number one thing to look for in a disposer is stainless steel grinders. And not horse power.
Number 2 is sound proofing.
ISE is probably your best brand going.
Good Luck.

I agree. HP depends on what your toss down that drain. I just replaced ours.....Check to see if your motor has a reset.( lil red button...push it in to see if it resets the motor).
I'd get minimum the .75HP disposal. Make sure it comes with the quick connect rings....otherwise, it's gonna take awhile.

horsepower is important, and continuous feed would tell you how easily or not easily it is overloaded.
